Pam Answers Frequently Asked Questions
Pam Frame, the author of the Walter Mouse series of devotional books Squeaks, Mousetails, Whiskers of Love and Mousetracks In The Snow, answers a few "frequently asked questions:"
- Why did you pick a mouse as the author? I've always been a great animal-lover, and I wanted a somewhat different venue for sharing the Word, so an animal seemed logical. I figured Bill couldn't very well haul a Clydesdale around the countryside, so a mouse seemed like a good choice because he could stay hidden, yet see what was going on around him.
- Are the stories based on real incidents? Mostly, yes. They've all occurred in the Pottstown, Douglassville, Reading area of Pennsylvania, except for a few that took place when I was visiting out of the area.
- Where did the events occur? Quite a few of them happened right at home. Many also happened as I was driving to and fro while I was working as the Director of Pastoral Care for Cedarville United Methodist Church in Pottstown, PA. I get ideas as I'm out among God's people. They just sort of "download from above."
- Do the characters represent real people? Yes. The name "Walter" doesn't actually refer to anyone. It just felt right. "Bill" is the name of my favorite dog...a greyhound-shep mix who was just a prince of a dog. He died a number of years ago, at the age of 15. I still miss him. "Bill" is actually me, as is "Bill's mom." "Tucker," Bill's "brother," is really my twin sister...and the name is really the name of her horse! "Fritz," one of Bill's "friends," is the name of one of my sister's cats. I think that covers us all!
